Reunited

We are here and all is well! The flight was long, but without problems.  As you can see, Dana  had plenty of leg room.  J

We arrived at 730am Ethiopian time after a 13 hour flight and were pretty darn tired.   We were told, however, that “D” was very anxious to see us, so we checked into our guest house and then headed to “D’s” home!

If you all remember, we have been working on "D's" adoption for many years.  In 2012, when we left Solomon’s orphanage, we took this picture of Solomon and his best friend “D.”

We prayed and prayed for a family for “D” and when his picture popped up on our agency’s waiting child list about a year after adopting Solomon, we tried talking several of our friends into adopting him.  However, as we continued to pray for a family for “D” we soon realized that God had other plans…..He had chosen us for that task!

The process has been long and stressful over the last few years, but it all was worth it when we saw “D” again.  We had visited with him in January when we were in Ethiopia adopting Kassahun, but things were still uncertain with “D’s” process at that time, so this reunion was different.  This time we knew for sure that he would be our son!

“D” met us with a huge smile when we entered his orphanage home.  We learned that he was so excited about us coming that he didn’t sleep the night before!  He gave all of us a big hug, and then quickly asked where his brothers Solomon and Kassahun were.  We then were greeted by his roommates at the orphanage, all of whom were also excited to meet “D’s” family.  We had a wonderful visit with all of the boys.  We brought them a few new games that they hadn’t played before, Connect 4 and Simon Says.  They loved them!  Joseph also taught them how to play kickball.  J

This time with “D” has been a huge answer to prayer.  Prayers from us, prayers from “D”, and prayers from all of you.  Praise to God from whom this blessing has been given!

Tomorrow we will head to court to make our adoption final.  And then we will be able to officially introduce you to our new son!

Until he’s home,

Dana and Jack
